1. Unlikely adjective [uhn-lahyk-lee]

not likely to happen or occur; not promising; improbable

◼ Example: It is unlikely that the president would mingle with the impoverished people.
◻ Note: Give me a thing that is unlikely for you to do.

2. Though conjunction [thoh]

although; in spite of the fact; despite the fact that

◼ Example: Though he did his best to prepare for the exam, he still didn’t make it.

◼ Example: He totally hates spicy dishes; he still ate it, though.
◻ Note: ‘Though’, as a conjunction, can replace ‘although’.

3. Unless conjunction [uhn-les, uhn-]

except in the condition that or under the circumstances that

◼ Example: I’ll be able to meet the deadline, unless there is another technical problem.
◻ Note: Rarely, this word can also be used as a ‘preposition’ which means except or but. For example; Nothing else can help, unless euthanasia.

4. Throughout preposition [throo-out]

in, to, through, during or every part of, all through, everywhere in

◼ Example: They have looked throughout the area, but still, they weren’t able to find the lost child.
Adverb
in every single part; during the entire moment or time

◼ Example: He was very serious all throughout the practical examination.
◻ Note: Have you ever kept quiet all throughout the day?

5. Always adverb [awl-weyz, -weez]

at all times and occasions; at any time or in any event; continuously; forever

◼ Example: He always visits his grandmother even though he’s always busy at work.
◼ Example: You can always depend on me.
◼ Example: The sun will always shine.
◻ Note: Do you always give your best in everything that you do?

6. Actually adverb [ak-choo-uh-lee]

actual fact; in reality; really

◼ Example: He has always portrayed the role of a protagonist, but actually, he has a very bad and mean personality.
◻ Note: ‘Actually’ can also be used to express surprise or wonder: He actually did it!!!

7. Exactly adverb [ig-zakt-lee]

in an exact, precise or accurate manner; in all and every respect

◼ Example: He painted the Mona Lisa exactly how Da Vinci did it.
◼ Example: Act exactly as you please.
◻ Note: ‘Exactly’ can also be used to indicate or express agreement.

8. Moreover adverb [mawr-oh-ve]

beyond what has been said; besides; in addition; to add

◼ Example: Michael Phelps has won his 22nd Olympic medal. Moreover, he was regarded as the greatest swimmer of all time.
◻ Note: This word is used as a sentence connector.

9. Usually adjective [yoo-zhoo-uh lee, yoozh-wuh lee]

habitually or customarily; ordinarily; at most times or under normal conditions

◼ Example: She’s usually early for work, but today she’s late.
◻ Note: ‘Usual’ is the adjective form of ‘usually’.

substitute or in replacement of someone or something earlier mentioned; as an alternative

◼ Example: The vice-president attended the ASEAN meeting instead of the president because he was terminally ill.
◼ Example: You can use cornstarch instead of flour for covering the chicken.
◻ Note: Instead of studying, what would you rather do?
