If you are good at playing badminton, playing hanetsuki will be easy for you. Hanetsuki is very similar to badminton, although its paddle is without a net and is made of a rectangular wood. This paddle is called a hagoita. If badminton uses a very simple and white shuttle cock, hanetsuki uses a colourful one. Girls are the ones who usually play this. It can be played alone or by two people. When played alone, the player tries to keep the shuttlecock in the air as long as possible. When played by two people, the players bat the shuttlecock back and forth. If the player fails to hit it, she gets a mark on the face with an Indian ink.
