There are indoor hot springs and outdoor hot springs, although originally, they were located outdoors. Hot springs are a big part of Japanese people's lifestyle because they find relaxation in such place after a week of stressful hard work. Onsen water is also believed to have healing power that might have come from the minerals in it.
