Samurai was a class of highly-skilled warriors of pre-industrial Japan. Samurai lived by the bushido concept which means the way of the warrior. Bushido's central principles are honor and freedom. A warrior should fight without fear for his master. He should die honourably than surrender in defeat. Early samurai fought with a bow and an arrow. Swords were only used for finishing off wounded enemies. After some time, samurai warriors had two swords called daisho, which was the long one and was used for slashing; and the other was wakizashi, which was shorter and was used for stabbing.
